Since 2001, my focus has been on the development of CMS-powered websites and web applications. After the onward development of WordPress as an extensible and professional software solution, I decided to become part of the international WordPress community in 2009.
Since then, I’ve taken time every week to contribute to the WordPress world – I’ve now been doing so for more than 20 years. I am committed to both the technology and the people in the community: I maintain free plugins, support new versions of WordPress Core with my technical expertise and share my experience from working with other content management systems.
As a multilingual user, I occasionally help with the translation of third-party plugins into German and back. Since 2016, I have given several talks on design, user experience and technology at Swiss WordCamp conferences and meetups and have also helped organise several of these events.
WordPress Community Website
As part of my commitment to the WordPress community in Switzerland, I designed and developed the small community website wpswitzerland.ch as a side project. The site serves as a portal for key WordPress-related topics, with a special focus on community events and blog posts from selected, curated websites.
If you search for “WordPress Switzerland” on Google, this website appeared in second place directly after the paid adverts following its publication. Only the official website wordpress.org – the central point of contact for WordPress software worldwide – was listed higher.
Connections to APIs
The website is connected to the central international WordPress event database and uses a React component to display upcoming WordPress events in Switzerland. In the blog area, multilingual posts from selected websites are integrated via RSS, and visitors to our website can also subscribe to the combined feed via RSS.
