An advantage of my broad experience in web design and technology is the ability to support colleagues, friends and family when needed. Family members decided to rent out the holiday home “The Auld Sweetie Shop” in the Scottish village of Stanley near Perth, so I designed and built a simple, customised website for them using the WordPress Block Editor.
In addition to the page layout, powered by WordPress, I created a design mockup in Adobe XD, made typographic and colour decisions and made the site distinctive thanks to supplied professional photos and videos. A customised image carousel with reactive colours which adapt to each displayed photo allows for a compact and appealing presentation of the house details.

The market for holiday rentals is highly competitive online, and the majority of bookings are made via the large platforms. However, a small, independent website with its own domain offers more flexibility and makes it possible to present the house and host personality in a much more individual way than on a standardised booking platform. The name of the website “Auld Sweetie Shop” refers to the history of the building.
