Networking of applicants and suitable vacancies

Interactive views with React, extensions to the WordPress REST API and connections to a third-party system.

Networking of applicants and suitable vacancies

NEXUS Personal- und Unternehmensberatung AG has specialised in the placement of IT specialists and managers since 1995. NEXUS approached me with the requirement to develop several interactive views for the new WordPress website.

Working with their web manager, we planned the output of different views on the website to connect job seekers and employers by pulling data from a centralised database. Instead of just applying for jobs directly, candidates can submit their profiles with extensive information and work experience. Potential employers can then view a filtered list of suitable candidates and contact them directly. The website also provides a manageable list of current vacancies.

Interface connection

NEXUS was already using its own database solution based on HCL Notes, and an external software developer maintains an API for data exchange. I developed a WordPress plugin that communicates with this API to retrieve data on candidates and vacancies while also enabling forms on the website that write data back to the remote database.

Since the views on the website are mainly dynamic and interactive, I implemented the plugin with a combination of React interfaces and extensions of the WordPress REST API for data exchange.

Since its initial release, the plugin has been occasionally enhanced to optimise functionality and ensure compatibility with new versions of third-party technologies.
